The Inland Revenue chairman Nick Montagu has said: 'We simply cannot afford to go soft on fraud and evasion, nor will we be doing so.' Having collected more than £3.8bn from tackling non-compliance during the year to 31st March 2002, a little less than the previous year, the Inland Revenue will be looking to increase that amount in future years.
