Q I put a Content Advisor password for Internet Explorer on my computer before a visit from my 15-year-old grandson.
Now I can’t find where I wrote it down and it has locked me out of Internet Explorer. Can you help?

A It is possible to remove the password, but the instructions are a little complicated, and involve editing the Registry.
You can find a guide here – but remember that before editing the Registry you should set a System Restore point (open the Start menu, then select All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, then System Restore).
You should also back up the Registry before beginning – follow the instructions on the webpage above to start Regedit, but as soon as it starts, click the File menu and select Export, then make sure ‘All’ is selected under Export Range, then save the backup to your Desktop. Then carry on with the instructions from the above website starting with step 3.
If you don’t fancy editing the Registry a quick fix would be to use an alternative browser such as Firefox or Opera, neither of which would be affected.
